PMC changes the admission criteria for students
The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC), Thursday announced new eligibility criteria for admissions to dental and medical colleges.
- A notification from the commission states that applicants with 60% in intermediate will be eligible for admission to dental and medical colleges.
- Students who have 55% or more can apply to MBBS, and students with 45% can apply for BDS. This requirement was previously 65% for MBBS, and 60% for BDS.
- Not to be confused with MDCAT 2024, which was originally scheduled for September/October 2024, has been postponed until further orders.
- The notification stated that “New schedule/dates” would be posted on the PMC website.
- In the meantime, students who were unable or unwilling to register for MDCAT 2024 can reopen the registration portal from September 10-25.
Criteria for Medical Admissions to Vacant Seats
All students who have not been admitted to any private or public dental and medical college are eligible to apply on the PMC portal.

- Certificate or result card for Matriculation (SSC), issued by the concerned BISE/Equivalence Certificate O-Level, etc. issued by IBCC
- HSSC Pre-Medical results issued by the concerned BISE /Equivalence certificate of foreign examination (A-Level, IB, American 12th Grade, etc.). The IBCC issued the certificate. The candidates having foreign qualifications shall also upload their original results issued by the foreign university/board/school showing their grades in science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Mathematics)
- Candidates with foreign qualifications equivalent to Pakistani HSSC (e.g. A-Levels, IB, American 12th Grade) will need to submit a Letter of Equivalence of Grades. shall have to submit, along with their Equivalence Certificate, a Letter of Equivalence of Grades in Science Subjects (i.e., Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Mathematics), issued separately by IBCC. This is mandatory.
- The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) issued the MDCAT-2020 result card. Recurring candidates may use their MDCAT 2020 results. However, they will need to enter the PMC score for this year in their applications.
- Domicile certificate of candidate (For candidates who are not Pakistani/Dual Nationality Holders, the Punjab domicile of Overseas father/mother will be accepted).
- Valid CNIC/CRC/NICOP/Passport of the candidate
- Valid CNIC/NICOP/Passport for the Father/Mother of the candidate
- A recent passport-size color photo of the candidate, taken on a background that is either white or sky blue
- Specimen signatures (LTI) and left thumb impression (LTI), of the candidate in blue/black pen on white paper
- Hifz-e Quran Certificate issued in Pakistan by Wafaq ul madaris for Pakistani candidates and in Overseas cases by relevant national authorities (only for Huffaz e-Quran candidates).
